NXP Semiconductors PCAL6534EV 34-Bit GPIO Arduino Shield

NXP Semiconductors PCAL6534EV 34-Bit GPIO Arduino Shield (PCAL6534EV-ARD) is a demonstration and development platform for the PCAL6534 Ultra-Low Voltage I/O Expander. The PCAL6534 provides remote I/O expansion for most microcontrollers using a Fast-mode Plus (Fm+) I2C-bus interface. The PCAL6534 has an ultra-low-voltage interface for direct connection to microcontrollers. This device provides a simple solution for when additional I/Os are needed while keeping interconnections to a minimum.

The NXP Semiconductors PCAL6534EV 34-Bit GPIO Arduino Shield serves as a daughterboard that can be connected through an Arduino port to Arduino-compatible development boards for testing and measuring the characteristics of the PCAL6534. The PCAL6534EV-ARD Shield communicates through the Arduino port with the host device via the Fast-mode I2C-bus. Alongside the I2C-bus, three additional digital lines allow the development board to control the device through the same Arduino port. The PCAL6534EV-ARD Shield is also powered via the Arduino port.

The PCAL6534EV 34-Bit GPIO Arduino Shield is designed to work with the i.MX RT1050 EVK Evaluation Kit (MIMXRT1050-EVKB), the LPCXpresso55S69 Development Board (LPC55S69-EVK), or the i.MX 8M Mini Evaluation Kit (8MMINILPD4-EVKB). If the i.MX 8M Mini Evaluation Kit is used, the Arduino Interposer Board (IMX8MMINI-IARD) is also required.
