Know Where You Are with the Murata SCC2000 Gyroscope/Accelerometer Series Now at Mouser

February 11, 2015 - Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now shipping the new SCC2000-Series Gyroscope and Accelerometer from Murata Electronics. This new series of MEMS sensors includes single-axis X, or Z‑axis gyroscope with ±125°/sec or ±300°/sec ranges, combined with a high precision 3‑axis accelerometer with a ±2g or ±6g measurement range. These new sensors offer extensive self-diagnostics and are qualified to automotive AEC‑Q100 standards.

The new Murata SCC2000-Series Gyroscope and Accelerometer, available from Mouser Electronics, are MEMS sensors built on Murata's proven capacitive 3D-MEMS technology. Signal processing is done in an on-chip mixed signal ASIC that provides angular rate and acceleration output via a flexible SPI digital interface. Sensor elements and ASIC are packaged in a 24‑pin premolded robust plastic housing that provides reliable operation over the sensor's lifetime.

The Murata SCC2000 family supports two types of gyroscopes. An X‑axis gyroscope measures horizontal rotation along the X‑axis, such as the spiral of a thrown football. A Z‑axis gyroscope measures vertical rotation along the Z‑axis, such as a spinning top. The Murata SCC2230 has a Z‑axis gyroscope with a 3‑axis accelerometer, while the SCC2130 has an X‑axis gyroscope with a 3‑axis accelerometer. The SCR2100 is the gyroscope-only version with an X‑axis gyroscope and no accelerometer.

These new sensors offer excellent bias stability, low noise levels, and are resistant to unwanted vibrations. This makes these sensors especially suited for high performance systems in harsh industrial environments. These sensors are designed, manufactured and tested for high stability, extended reliability and consistent quality, and provide an extremely stable output over a wide range of temperature, humidity and harsh environment conditions. Several advanced self-diagnostic features are supported. An SPI slave interface configures the sensors and provides instant readings of the gyroscope and accelerometer status. An integrated CRC engine insures data integrity. These sensors perform extensive self-diagnostics during all power-up and reset events.
