RECOM Power Railway Solutions

RECOM Power Railway Solutions include DC-DC converters that convert DC battery voltages to a lower voltage for control and energy circuit usage. These power solutions offer up to 93% efficiency and an 8W to 240W power range. The DC-DC converters for railway applications are available in three sizes. The full brick measures 4.6" x 2.4" x 0.5", the half-brick 2.3" x 2.4" x 0.35", and the quarter-brick 2.3" x 1.45" x 0.35". The DC-DC railway converters function as power supplies under extreme conditions such as shock, heat, cold, and vibration. These DC-DC converters are constructed according to EN50155 standards to ensure smooth operations in harsh environmental conditions. The DC-DC railway converters are UL/IEC/EN 60950 certified and carry a CE mark.

The EN 50155 standard is a performance standard for equipment used in rolling stock. This standard specifies defined requirements for electronic components and information systems used in railway engineering. The EN50155 also specifies minimum requirements for the input voltage range, electrical isolation, shock and vibration, operating temperature, humidity, and EMC.

The EN 50155 states that the nominal input voltage fluctuates between 0.7 and 1.25 times the rated voltage and allows short-term deviations between 0.6 and 1.4 times. This indicates that a 48V DC-DC converter must cater to a 28.8V to 67.2V voltage range.
