Analog Devices Inc. ADXL366 3-Axis Digital Output MEMS Accelerometers
Analog Devices ADXL366 3-Axis Digital Output Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) Accelerometers are ultra-low power devices that consume 0.96µA at a 100Hz output data rate (ODR) and 191nA when in motion-triggered wake-up mode. Unlike accelerometers that rely on power duty cycling and undersampling to reduce power consumption, the ADXL366 maintains full-bandwidth sampling at all data rates, avoiding signal aliasing. It delivers 14-bit output resolution, with optional 8-bit and 12-bit formats for efficient data handling and compatibility with ADXL362 designs. The sensor supports selectable measurement ranges of ±2g, ±4g, and ±8g, offering a fine resolution of 0.25 mg/LSB in the ±2g range.
Beyond ultra-low power consumption, the Analog Devices ADXL366 integrates features that enable true system-level power savings. It includes a configurable step counter, a deep multimode first-in/first-out (FIFO), a micropower temperature sensor, and an internal Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) for synchronized analog input conversion with interrupt capability. Single- and double-tap detection operate at any output data rate with 35nA of added current, supported by a state machine to reduce false triggers. The devices also support external control of sampling time and clock input. Operating from a wide 1.1V to 3.6V supply, these accelerometers can interface with hosts on separate voltages. Housed in a compact 2.2mm × 2.3mm × 0.87mm, 12-terminal LGA package, the ADXL366 components are pin-compatible with the ADXL367.
